It’s often said that football is more than a sport – it’s the world’s game. An estimated four billion people – half of the world’s population – would consider themselves fans of football, while millions of people play the sport globally either for fun or professional.
All of that engagement inevitably leads to economic and social impact, well beyond the professional game. Grassroots football can help stimulate inclusion and integration. It can lead to improved health and wellbeing for those playing. But up until now, putting reliable figures on these positive social and economic impacts has proven complex.

Afeez Football League Clubs will make a valuable contribution to communities across the country and have a prestigious place with the heart of their respective towns and cities. The impact of AfeeFL Clubs and Club Community Organisations have on their communities is not only vital, but also unique, in that it is delivered at local level at scale across the country and continues to have a lasting impact.Â
All Clubs will have to continue to secure their roles as vital civic institutions, representing and celebrating their communities, providing spaces for communal shared identity, and becoming catalysts for economic and social regeneration and development. So much so, is often difficult to imagine many towns and cities without their Football Clubs. AfeezFL will contribute to the communities by,
- provide employment and training for unemployed people.
- promote close links between professional football clubs and the community.
- involve minority ethnic groups in social and recreational activities.
- attempt to prevent acts of hooliganism and vandalism.
- maximise the use of the facilities of the football clubs.
